Lee Armstrong
Steve Collisson
Lee graduated in Music from Birmingham University where he studied the cello with
Catherine Ardagh-Walter (CBSO) and composition with Vic Hoyland and Michael Zev-Gordon.
He is an experienced cellist, performing with the Sinfonia of Birmingham, Eroica
Camerata (principal) and Central England Ensemble. He conducts and tutors the cello
for Dudley Performing Arts, and conducts various cello ensembles and local orchestras.
As an arranger of music for strings, particularly cello ensembles, he has been commissioned
by Birmingham Conservatoire, Oxford Cello School, DuoCello, Dudley Performing Arts,
Central England Ensemble and Birmingham Cello Group. He also works full time as a
graphic designer for Birmingham Royal Ballet.



Steve graduated from Manchester University with first-class honours, having studied
with Bernard Gregor-Smith of the Lindsays. At the RAM he studied for a Master's degree
in Performance with Douglas Cummings (LSO). He is cellist of the critically acclaimed
Tempest String Quartet, is part-time lecturer and chamber music coach for the University
of Birmingham and an examiner for the Associated Board (ABRSM), touring both in the
UK and internationally. For many years he has worked on the Oxford Cello School as
head of the Adult Improvers Course. Steve has also adjudicated at many festivals
and competitions including the BBC Young Musicians Competition, worked under conductors
including Sakari Oramo, Mark Elder and Sir Simon Rattle, and performed on Irish,
Danish and Swedish radio and BBC Radio 3.



Kwêsi Edman studied at the Royal Academy of Music with David Strange. He has a wealth
of solo, orchestral and chamber music performance experience both in the UK and abroad,
having played in many of the UK's prestigious concert halls with conductors such
as Yan Pascal Tortelier, Sir Roger Norrington, Paul Daniel and Tadaaki Otaka. Kwesi
is a member of the Presmaki piano and cello duo and has been the director of the
OCS Junior Course since 2001. He is also a freelance teacher in London.



Helena studied the cello with Anna Shuttleworth and Joan Dickson at the Royal College
of Music in London. She then moved to Germany and remained there for a period of
ten years, working with several professional orchestras, including Mannheim, Kassel
and Frankfurt. Since returning to the UK, Helena has embarked on a career as teacher
and performer. She is currently Head of the MusicDepartment in Sheldon Heath School,
but is moving to King Edwards Five Ways School in September, where she will continue to
combine her work as a music teacher with regular playing in the Birmingham area.
Helena is the mother of three grown up children, all of whom have become keen amateur
musicians.
